Our Refinishing process

  1. Free Estimate: Peter visits, measures, checks board condition, and gives you a fixed written quote — usually within 24 hours.
  2. Dustless Sanding: 3-pass drum + edger + buffer sequence with HEPA containment. Grits stepped from 36 → 60 → 80 → 100.
  3. Repairs & Prep: Board replacements, gap fills, nail-set, and final hand-scraping at transitions and stair noses.
  4. Stain Application: Custom stain hand-applied or sprayed. We do test samples on YOUR floor in YOUR light before committing.
  5. 3 Coats of Finish: Sealer + 2 topcoats of premium oil or water-based finish. Cure-time guidance so you can move back in safely.

How much does hardwood floor refinishing cost on the South Shore?

How long does refinishing take?

Can I stay in my home during refinishing?

Most surface scratches and light water rings sand right out. Deep black pet stains require board replacement or color-blending — we'll tell you honestly during the estimate which approach is right for your floor.

Solid 3/4" hardwood can typically be refinished 5–7 times over its lifetime. Engineered hardwood depends on wear-layer thickness — we check during the estimate.
