  • Stair & Transition Match: Treads, risers, thresholds, and reducers milled to match your new floor.
  • Move-In Ready: Sand, stain, and finish on site — or install pre-finished and walk on it the same day.

Our Installation process

  1. Free In-Home Measure: Peter visits your home, measures every room, checks subfloor and moisture, and writes a fixed-price estimate.
  2. Material Selection: Species, width, grade, and finish chosen together — we bring samples to your home so the color matches your light.
  3. Acclimation & Prep: Wood acclimates in your home for 5–7 days. Subfloor is leveled, fastened, and moisture-verified before install.
  4. Precision Install: Hand-racked layout, blind-nailed or glued, with tight seams and consistent reveals across the entire floor.
  5. Sand, Stain, Finish: If site-finished, we sand to 120-grit, apply your stain, and 3 coats of premium poly or hard-wax oil.

Frequently asked questions

How long does hardwood installation take in a South Shore home?

A typical 600–900 sq ft installation takes 4–7 working days, plus 5–7 days of in-home acclimation before we start. Site-finished floors add another 3–4 days for sand, stain, and finish curing.

Can you install hardwood over a concrete slab or radiant heat?

Yes. We install engineered hardwood over concrete (with proper vapor barrier and moisture testing) and over radiant heat systems in Quincy, Braintree, and Weymouth homes regularly.

Do you install pre-finished or site-finished hardwood?

Both. Pre-finished is faster and walk-on-immediately. Site-finished gives you a smoother, custom-stained look and is what most of our Hingham and Milton clients choose for a luxury finish.

What hardwood species do you recommend for the South Shore?

Red oak and white oak hold up best to New England humidity swings. White oak is more popular in modern remodels for its tighter grain and cleaner gray/natural stain reception.

Will installation match my existing floors in another room?

Yes — we routinely lace new hardwood into existing floors and refinish the entire surface to one seamless color so transitions disappear.
